Subdivision growing

I made more of my 8" houses over the weekend.  I'm becoming braver about using a wide variety of blues for these, not making everything matchy-matchy.   I decided a big picture window here and there in the subdivision would be OK.

I've joined in on every quiltalong that Lori of Humble Quilts has led, and this new one promises to be as much fun as the others.  The little antique quilt we'll be making is named "Pink Lemonade" and these shoofly blocks are step #1.

I didn't sew quite as much over the weekend as I'd originally planned.

DH and I helped DD #1 move some large items 100 miles to another city where her sister has a garage and basement with storage space.   We spent quite a few hours on the road, but we're all glad to have the items finally moved.  We also got a chance to meet the newest member of the family.   DD #2 recently bought her first house, and now that she's settled in, she was able to fullfill a wish she's had for many years.  She's the new and proud owner of a retired greyhound.

DD #2 with Taima
This is DD #2 with Taima.  The photo was taken the first time they met at the Quad Cities Greyhound Adoption Center.   Taima is larger than the average retired female.   She's a red brindle, had three litters, and is 6 years old.  She docile, friendly, and an elegant lady.  It was a pleasure meeting her yesterday, and our daughter is so proud of her new housemate.

DD #1 owns a puggle named Scully, and Scully can walk under Taima with ease.  The two dogs met for the first time yesterday, and after some cautionary time together with Taima's muzzle on, it was removed and they got along just fine.
Taima would probably never mistake a puggle for a fluffy rabbit she would want to chase, but caution is wise with two 6-year-old dogs meeting for the first time.

Congratulations to your daughter for buying her first house and for getting herself a retired greyhound. Taima looks beautiful!

I love your subdivision! The different blues make the quilt sparkle and the variety in the windows adds visual interest. I also like that a few random houses face the other direction.
I haven't started on Lori's QAL yet, but I will this week. Your blocks look good. Makes me want to get moving on it, but tomorrow is budget day. We get paid once a month, so there is a lot of balancing and bill paying to do. Maybe I can squeeze in a bit of sewing.
Greyhounds are such sleek-looking dogs. This girl is a beauty--love the coloring!

Wow Vivian, that looks like a whole city to me. You really have got to grips with your housebuilding. Terrific. My niece has rescue greyhounds too.

Great houses, love the blues and the picture windows. Sometimes it is nice to not be 'matchy-matchy'.
