A few blocks

Rocky Mountain Sampler, blocks 1-4
Weekend quilting away from home with friends.  Shared stories, laughs, advice, flavored coffee, and food.  It was a great time together.

Robert Kaufman focus fabric
I got caught up on my blocks with a new BOM project sponsored by a local quilting center.  The program is "Rocky Mountain  Sampler" by Paula Stoddard.  You can see the original pattern version here.
Fabrics for my blocks were selected with an eye on this Robert Kaufman fabric.   Each month we make two blocks, and the finished size is 48 x 60", but I want mine larger.   I'll make extra blocks of some sort to enlarge it.

castle wall blocks with connector pieces (honeycombs)
The blocks are interesting.  The flying geese and HST that surround each 6" center make them "float," and the corners of the 12" blocks create secondary designs when the blocks are joined.

I finished a couple more castle wall blocks, made by tracing around the shapes on the back of fabric, machine stitching or hand stitching the pieces together.   In the photo are two new blocks (left side) plus connector pieces as used in the pattern -- called honeycombs in one online store.  This honeycomb is the equivalent of a 2" square plus a 2" triangle added on each end.
74x90" share quilt done
I have a baby-step start -- 6 blocks done with a goal of 42 blocks.
Quilts for Kids ready to ship (after a bath)
I finished binding these five Quilts for Kids this weekend, after I machine quilted them on my HQ Sweet Sixteen. They're in the dryer right now.  Quilts are to be bound, labeled, washed, and dried before they're shipped.  To the post office with them Monday.   Go to the link above and click on "volunteer" for information, if you want to help.
The 74 x 90" share quilt also was quilted on my Sweet 16.  It will go to our guild next month, joining others from the membership, destined for a local homeless shelter.  Love the Tina Givens fabric from Free Spirit we chose for my backing.           Have a great week.

Love the feature fabric for the Rocky Mountain BOMs - should be a gorgeous quilt. The castle blocks look tricky but you are doing a great job. And lovely you making all those quilts for kids. A kind and generous thing to do.

That Kaufman fabric is so lush. You done a great job pulling out the colors for your blocks. Looks great.
That is a good solid start on your castle blocks. This will be a wonderful quilt when all assembled.
Do you bind the "Quilts for Kids" by hand? However you do it--that is a lot of work!
So is the sweet 16 a "sit down" or "Stand up" quilting machine? I've heard they could go either way.

Pretty fabrics to go with all those blocks--lots of variety in the piecing to keep it entertaining :)

Castle blocks are coming along wonderfully--the honeycomb adds a lot, I think!

So glad you're using your new quilting buddy a lot. I have yet to get my QFK quilt done and am planning a stash strippie quilt to go along with it.

Wishing your generosity is matched by many others' with all the quilts you're donating!

I love both your new projects! I think samplers are fun for the variety and those castle wall blocks - well, it obvious this is going to be a wonderful quilt.

You are very generous with your quilting for others. I need to do some of that soon too.
