Three tops finished

quilt for retiring coworker
This weekend was productive, as I finished three quilt tops.  Each got its turn on the line in the backyard on this pretty autumn day.   They're similar in size, ranging from 65 x 80" to 72 x 90".

The retirement quilt for a coworker was first described here.  I pieced random leftover light strips for the first border, and the large print outer border was cut 6-1/2".  I really hope to make this pattern from Scrap-Basket Sensations again some day in Christmas colors.

each block finishes at 9 inches
My 36-patch quilt top will have no border.  I'm satisfied with it just as it is--except for the bright and bold orange/rust block in the lower right corner.  I planned to add one or two similar blocks to help balance it, but I never did.  There's a better chance I'll take it out and replace it with a less prominent block.  No destination for this quilt.  For now it's mine.

share quilt for a guy
The third top is a share quilt I had written about here.    I chose a small-scale light toile for the border and will use brown or wine fabric for the binding.

The retirement quilt has to be quilted first.  Her last day at work here in town is Friday.  If I'm not done by then, I will find a way to get it to her (40-45 miles away), but I'd rather have it done so she can drive home with it.

Enjoy the coming week of stitching, quilting, or whatever comes your way.

I am impressed, three at one time! I feel accomplished these days if I get even the smallest project finished. All three are gorgeous!

Nice quilt tops! If you can get this far in one weekend then I'm pretty confident that you will finish the retirement quilt before Friday...but Good Luck anyway! Have a great week.

If you had a beautiful autumn day today, we should be getting that weather tomorrow. It was nice here too. I like the 36 patch without a border too.

Great weekend for you! All three quilts are wonderful. I love the Scrap Basket quilt--would be great fro Christmas in red and greens. The 36 patch is so vibrant. This pattern always speaks to me--simple, but so interesting!
I love the share quilt. Beautiful colors, and again, simple pattern but visually so pleasing.

Wow! Three tops completed! You must feel good! They are all wonderful. Your coworker is going to love this quilt. Keep us posted this week with your FMQ progress. I kind of like the block that pops on your 36-patch, but if it bothers you then swap it. I think blocks like that are extremely obvious in a photo, but not so much in real life. I have to go back and read about the 3rd quilt. Very warm - love the subdued colors.

Wow! You've been busy! You've got me thinking that I need to make that quilt in Christmas colors.

I love that bold block in your quilt. I know everyone has different ideas about things, but I would definitely leave it just as it is.
